The World Sustainable Building (SB) Conference, which is held every three years, is the peak gathering of the world’s leading technical experts and researchers on sustainable built environments.
In 2008 it was held in Melbourne, Australia, from 21 to 25 September.
As with all such events, abstracts were called for on topics ranging from life cycle assessment of materials to ecological foot printing of cities, from integrated design to case studies of product, from policy development to social behavioural change, etc.
TBE successfully took part in this event as the abstracts submitted by our members were selected either for a poster or oral presentations. We also brought together the Australian, European, North American and South Africanclay brick industry together under the slogan ‘Clay is green and comes in all colours’.
Our booth was identified as the best marketing challenge thanks to our 12-foot plus headline: ‘When it comes to sustainable building, what’s more important? A; Energy Efficiency. B: Health, Comfort and Safety. The touch-screen voting allowed prospects to enter their choice and this triggered some very interesting discussions.
