About TBE
Tiles and Bricks Europe (TBE) is registered under Belgian law as an international non-profit making association. It promotes the interests of the clay brick and roof tile industry in Europe by means of lobbying the European Institutions in the fields of industrial, environmental, energy, standardisation and sustainability policies. It provides a forum for its members to exchange information on technical development, sustainable production and emerging issues.
The association was established in Zurich on 6 Mai 1952 and TBE has been a member of Cerame-Unie, the European ceramic industry association, since 1991. Its secretariat is located at the Cerame-Unie office in Brussels and the current President is Dr Heimo Scheuch (CEO of Wienerberger AG) with Mr Christophe Sykes as the Secretary General.
TBE has in its membership national associations and companies from 23 EU Member States plus Croatia, Switzerland and Norway. In 2006, it was estimated that the manpower in our industry was approximately made up of 63 358 workers, with a turnover estimated at € 8.2 Billion.
